Просмотров 10 тыс.14 дней назад
Cranial work, and craniosacral therapy in particular, are powerful healing tools that bodyworkers of all types can use to help people relax, relieve pain, regulate their nervous system, and transform. It's great for headaches, jaw (TMJ) problems, pain and restriction anywhere in the body, it's safe and gentle, and it's deeply relaxing and regenerating. This video is a long explanation of how an...

    I was diagnosed with moderate scoliosis at 8 and was in a brace by 9. It helped a little bit. But puberty grew me out of the brace after only 2 years, so the doctors went with just monitoring. I was told surgery was an option but I opted out. My hips and shoulders are noticeably uneven, but I deal with it. I'm in my early 30s now and have become increasingly more conscious of my posture as I've aged and will catch myself out of a slouch, especially when sitting at a desk.

    I love your work!!! When trying to find someone who does this style of bodywork (in all aspects that you do) what should I look for in a provider? I live in Bakersfield, CA and the providers in this area are extremely limited. I don't know exactly what to ask for when looking into places that practices will understand what I'm asking for.

    The neck is the only place i would not feel comfortable with fast cracking adjustments. This is due to the risk, albeit small risk, of tearing the artery and causing a stroke. Nice to see it can be adjusted without fast forceful movements.

Tumor cells also invaded the right greater sphenoid wing and turned it to mush. It had to be drilled out. I have had many issues since. Have been doing Vision Therapy for over a year. Been getter CST for a few months to keep the right side from being stuck and not pumping the CSF. Slowly getting ambient vision back along with balance. Still a ways to go.

    Thank you dr. Russ for this video! I am 33 yrs old and have been a massage therapist for 4 years. Im thinking about going back to school to become a chiropractor and should take me 6 years. Im just concern about the amount of debt and less working years to pay back my loan compare to people who graduated in their twenties. Do you have any advice?

    • @DrRussInYourPocket
      @DrRussInYourPocket 9 дней назад

      Do you have all of your prerequisites done? If not, going back to school even part time to get them done would be a good way to measure your enthusiasm. You are right that starting later does put you on the back foot financially but not necessarily a deal breaker. Do you know the numbers yet? Cost and loan amount and repayment schedule? What your monthly repayment would be? For me having that firm data would be so helpful to making the decision.

    I sometimes wonder if everything will eventually lead down this path. I am currently trying to build a practice based around Myofascial Release (Barnes approach). I've also been taking training in neuromuscular therapy, and will be going for a certification in that some time next year. In addition, my mother had $2000 of credit with Upledger, and she gifted that to me, so I can take Craniosacral Therapy whenever I want to. Now, I'm already 43, and it's a big decision to consider. It would be nice to have the greater scope of practice, but professional referral is always an option too. I sometimes spin out on this.

    Thanks for sharing! As I mentioned in an another comment, I’m almost through the VCMT full time registered massage therapy school in Vancouver, Canada. In BC, our massage therapy programs are quite academically extensive, so it’s exciting to be almost done. My background was in theatre. I actually studied acting in NYC when I was 18. I also worked in restaurants, was a dance performer, fitness/ Pilates/ yoga teacher. I created a fitness RUclips channel during the pandemic. Anyway, I was always drawn to massage therapy, but it wasn’t the right time. I’m very passionate about anatomy and helping people, so it seemed like the right fit! 😊

    • @DrRussInYourPocket

      Honestly, I don’t know. Orthodontia is such a mystery to me, it’s so specific and even a lot of dentists don’t fully understand. Having had braces myself I think for me it did change my jaw position. But that’s not a scientific answer! I really have no idea

    Would this be a safe and beneficial therapy for someone with IIH (idiopathic intercranial hypertension)?

    • @DrRussInYourPocket
      @DrRussInYourPocket 18 дней назад

      That's a very good question. IIH presents a relative contraindication, meaning that any cranial work should be done a tiny bit at a time with the patient's response closely monitored over weeks, and ideally would be done with the collaboration of the patient's neurologist to ensure that the therapy was safe. If the neurologist said to avoid the therapy, I would avoid the therapy. Thank you so much for your question, I hope you find answers and solutions to your issues!

      It seems like chiropractic treatment varies a lot from provider to provider. Before finding Dr. Russ’s videos I was skeptical of the whole practice. There’s one point in this video (can’t find the time stamp) where Dr. Russ talks about the risk of moving the head of your patient back and sideways, and he seems to mainly focus on gentle pressure rather than hard neck adjustments. Meanwhile, some less careful chiropractors just crank on people’s necks with no safety consideration at all. Dr. Russ’s treatment philosophy seems to be that safety is most important.

I have been going to her for 3 years because im constantly getting ribs knocked out of place and she routinely listens and takes her time on working on me in the most respectfull way.
